Does it smell musty, earthy, and pungent – or perhaps damp, stale, and old?

A home is full of odors that can be difficult to get rid of, no matter how much you clean and ventilate. It can also be difficult to pinpoint the sources of these odors.

Here are some common sources:

The Attic

Bad odors often accumulate in the attic. These odors can come from damp wood, impregnation, mold, small animals like mice. If the space has poor ventilation and is rarely aired out, it contributes to the odors settling into beams, floors, and other materials. Ozone attacks and neutralizes air molecules. Bad odors disappear, as do mold spores, bacteria, allergens, and other harmful microorganisms.

The Basement

Basements often have poorer ventilation and heating and can start to smell stale, damp, earthy, and moldy. The bad smell risks penetrating deep into walls and floors and is difficult to remove with traditional cleaning. The odor easily contaminates everything from furniture to clothes stored in the basement. You can get rid of the odor with the help of Ozoneair, a unique machine that is easy to use. It is fully automatic; you set the basement's area and press start. Ozone has been used by remediation companies since the 1970s to sanitize homes and premises from fire, tobacco smoke, mold, and other odors. If you have problems with dampness, you may first need to dehumidify the basement, and then treat it with Ozoneair.

The Bathroom/Laundry Room

Moisture collects here, and bad smells can also come from drains. By cleaning with ozone, you can achieve a thorough clean in a whole new way.

The Crawl Space/Foundation

Spaces under houses and cottages often suffer from moisture problems and poor ventilation; an earthy smell creeps up into the foundation and can spread throughout the house. Ozone kills odor-causing molecules in the air and even superficially in materials. Chemically, the ozone molecule is aggressive and therefore incredibly effective.

Materials in the House

Bad odors can come from older materials, such as wallboards and cork tiles. Impregnation in the house's construction (especially from the 1960s and 1970s) smells a bit like mold, but more pungent. In a linoleum floor with a damaged surface layer, moisture can penetrate and the linseed oil can turn rancid, then a "vomit-like" smell spreads when the floor has been scrubbed and dries. Moisture-damaged carpet adhesive can also smell musty. Ozoneair effectively works against all these odors.

Other odors that Ozoneair removes: tobacco smoke, pet odor, urine odor.

Guide: Sanitize with ozone – step by step

  • Move out flowers and other plants from the room to be sanitized. Open doors to cabinets where you store clothes, textiles, and anything else you want to freshen up – the ozone also cleans materials. Close windows and doors.
  • Connect Ozoneair to a standard power outlet and set the room's area using a dial. Then press the start button.
  • The machine is fully automatic. While it's working – usually 2-6 hours – you should not be in the room. Pets should also not be in the room as inhaling ozone is harmful.
  • Two hours after the operation is complete, you can re-enter the room. By then, all ozone molecules will have broken down into ordinary oxygen. Ventilate; there may be a slight smell from the ozone treatment itself afterward, but this will disappear with ventilation.
  • Repeat the same procedure in the next room. Sometimes, the treatment may need to be repeated a few times.
